hmmm, if you can change the serpentine belt without going at it from under the bonnet then you need both a medal, and a job in volvo's design team.
i aggree that it helps to remove the wheel and splash guard to get at the crank pulley,but you dont HAVE to.once the cambelt cover is removed from the top then all the work can be done without removing the wheel etc..
but i also stick to my point that is if you cant figure out how to do it yourself then its probably not a job you should tackle.
