A Puzzle.. 02 sensor? -- Postscript 850

Just so anyone who searches this in the future knows, my 2 year old battery apparently was giving off the odor just as it was waiting to die.

I read somewhere that a battery can do this, but i couldn't imagine it could be so incredibly pungent, and yet when I went to open the hood a few days ago there was no smell in there (I suppose the blower fan was just sucking it all in..).

What's wierd too is the car went from no indication of battery failure to wouldn't even turn over, in four hours.
