Check Engine Light HELP 850

i never got an error code. I open the terminal A Box. I put the jumper in number seven. Then i pressed once let the light turn off, then two ..... On the fourth one i pressed it and stop. It blinked then turned off then came on again then turned off. Then i went and started the car, (ignition was alredy on, not running) the check engine went off then came back. did i do the procedure right? Thanks
