COOLING FAN RELAY..? 850

How I can know if my cooling fan relay is working right....(is new ..Cost me $57)
The fan is turning OK but it given me a code 514 (engine cooling fan faulty at half speed)
I took the fan out and I connected directed to the battery and is working fine in slow and high speed.
Already replaced, thermostat, temperature sensor

Thank you.

My car is a 1995 Volvo 850 GLT
