Need REAL advice on disconnecting A/C Firewall hoses 850 1996

are you having problems with your ac? mine has been shutting down, compressor will not cycle on and off, will overheat and shut down. ocasionally it will run normally but thats when the temp outside is cooler. took to volvo and they did the leak test then told me to come back for evap coil. I thought if evap coil was bad ac would not work at all. I did replace the high and low valve because they said that would have to be done and that is easy to do yourself. do you think they are yanking my chain? ive been looking for answers for a couplke weeks now and have come up with zip. I have seen my evap coil and it looks new I am wondering if they are just going to start replacing stuff just because they dont know whats wrong with it. can it be compressor. sorry for rambling, kelly
