Hello,
I know this is the V70 forum, but I'm hoping somebody has had the same expience that I'm having with my 1996 850 GLT Wagon with 194,000 on the clock. About 10K ago I replaced the original glove box with a new Volvo OEM. Thereafter I started to hear a metal sounding rattle coming from the glove box, apparently where the "A" column and the dashboard meet. I took the new glove book out to see if I had knock something loose. I found nothing and put the box back in and made sure all the retaining screws were snug. The noise continued.
I demonstrated the noise to my independant Volvo mechanic. He took the glove box out and a portion of the dashboard, but could not identify where the noise was coming from. In fact, while working on the car, the nose went away. He thought that maybe inadvertently, he had fixed it. He returned the car - N/C. A week or two later, the noise returned. It sounds exactly the same, no change in tone or pitch. The noise comes and goes. Has anyone had a similar experience, and if you so, what did you do? By the way, I bought this car new, and it has never been involved in a head-on collesion, or for that matter any type of collision. I say this, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks in advance to those who reply.
Hugh
