Eddie - My SAAB was black, and I kept it washed and waxed - I dusted it every morning before going to school. I took the rear seat out and propped the trunk lid up 3 inches like the factory did to their rally cars. Better streamlining you know.
My uncle "Red" helped me buy this first car, he sold used cars on the side and he liked unusual cars. The city next to us had an indie that serviced foreign cars, the mechanic, Fritz, never sppoke english, and he loved to rev the crap out of every car he worked on. One day Fritz was cursing in the garage, and I was told by the owner of the garage, Larry Angove, that Fritz had blown up a Mercedes!
Larry drove SAABs in rallies so when you went there for the first time, he would take you for a test drive in your SAAB. This consisted in a short trip on an expressway and then he would show you how fast you could negotiate the exit ramp if you downshifted into second and accelerated all the way around the ramp. He really could drive a SAAB!
Nothing like your first car.
