I have used Amsoil (100% Synthetic) for 20 years. I use it in my cars, lawnmower, chainsaw, weedeater, blower, etc.
I got 237,000 out of my '93 Saturn SL and it was still going. I traded for a '96 Volvo 850 with 70,000 miles, because I needed a bigger car. It now has 127,000 miles and is doing fine.
I change my oil and filter every 10,000 miles. The key is the Amsoil filter. Standard, paper filters filter down to 25 microns, whereas, the Amsoil filter filters down to .5 microns. I'm sure I could go 25,000 miles (changing the filter at 12,500) and it would be fine, but I don't. My procedure may cost a little more, but I keep my cars til the wheels fall off. I intend to keep this 850 for at least 400,000-500,000, if it will hold up. Atleast I'm confident that it's not the engine lubrication that should be any problem.
