Emmission system service - Check engine warning

Hi Miker and KC,
Thanks for responding. I filled it up again today and I did stop when the pump stopped (didn't try to top it off more). Again it didn't want to start. I tried once then gave the gas cap a good 4 revolutions (saw someone else mention that in a thread). Made no difference. After cranking for a bit it finally started but it runs rough for a couple of minutes. All is OK, except for the warning messages, until I fill up again. I got home and as an experiment I took the cap off then put back on to see if that would simulate a loss of pressure problem. Started fine. Obviously there's much more to this. It does sound like some kind of pressure, fuel starvation problem related to filling the tank. Next I'll try refilling the tank with a good half tank left. See if it matters how low I let it get. If it is a pressure leak, it somehow clears itself after a couple minutes. I wonder if an air bubble can somehow get into the system when refueling. Getting the fuel pump going for a bit eventually bleeds the system and then it runs fine?

I've got calls into the two dealers I know but have not heard back. I'll let you know what I hear.
