Well the sensor did indeed just get stuck down at the bottom of the tank. My handyman skills are next to none and I was able to fix it even! Used a turkey baster to remove all the coolant and freed the float using a screw driver. Apparently the hard JERK from a nasty pothole can jam the float all the way down.

Thanks for the advice. Saved me a $$ trip to the dealer I'm sure.
