Air pump question V70-XC70 1998

How difficult is it to replace the air pump ?

Mine went again, 2nd time. First time covered under warranty.

I see at volvospeed.com there are very good instructions but a few questions.

1 - He mentions "dykes" as a tool what exactly is this tool tin snips ?

2 - He was vague about the relay on 1998 models. Is there a relay and is it where the pump is located ?

3 - On my last service for the air pump it listed a "check valve" is this the same as the SAS valve ?


According to volvospeed they came out with a new SAS valve that was supposed to fix this problem. Apparently not enough.
