I disconnected the battery and left it that way for a few days so I could get a new flame trap assembly and install it while the IAC was removed. Just finished that installation, cleaned connecters on MAF, IAC and flushed IAC with carb cleaner.

All ready to go, I connected negative battery cable and started car. Started right away. I didn't want to get stuck away from my house so I let the car sit running while I lowered the jack and put away my tools. Tested the accelerator while in park and there is 1-2 second hesitation when pedel first depressed, then rpm's rise as normal. This hesitation is similar to what happened when I drove it the last time.

Then, after about 3 minutes, the car just died as it did before. Wouldn't restart, just turned over a gazillion times but no start. I could hear the fuel pump "working" behind me, the carpet and trim are all pulled and the FP cover is off.

I was so frustrated I accidently removed the negative battery cable before removing keys from the ignition. I don't know if this is really bad, but when I did it I heard a sound similar to what you might hear if someone who has been holding their breath for a few minutes finally lets it out.

I then shut the hood, locked the doors, and resisted the urge to fill the cabin and gas tank with dynamite. I need a beer, and lots and lots of help. I don't have much money so I want to do as much as I can on the cheap before I take it to a shop for diagnosis. I love my baby so, and it kills me to hate her this the way I do.

So far I have:
changed fuel pump relay
changed spark plugs
changed fuel filter
changed flame trap
cleaned connecters for IAC and MAF
cleaned inside IAC
