Do Synthetic and Dyno Mix OK ?

New Car - Broken In - Switching from Petroleum based oil to Synthetic (Mobil 1). Do they mix OK? First oil change will not remove all old (petro) oil. Is it OK to drain petro add new filter element and fill with Mobil 1?
