First on a 93 850 the light does mean A/C is off.

I had same issue and wasn't getting codes. With luck you just have a confused computer. To reset it disconnect the battery for a few hours. This clears out system memory. Be sure to have radio code first or it won't work until you visit a dealer and have them look it up for you.
