Not sure what year anymore but at some point, perhaps '95-'96 Volvos trans ECU got its vehical speed from the ABS ECU rather than a trans sensor SO if the '96 850 gets that signal from ABS, that trans won't have any way to simply add the '94 sensor thus a problem that won't be easily solved.
