stumped on climate control problem... 850 1993

I'm at my wits' end. A few months ago the ACC started acting up--intermittent air (hot or cold) with the fan sometimes coming on and sometimes not. For a while it would work only when the engine was first started and give out after a while, then even this became intermittent. This happened both on Auto temp and on manual override. Eventually the ciruclation system gave up the ghost altogether. I can still feel hot and cold when I leave the vents open and drive with the sunroof cracked, so the heater core and air con systems are in order. I just don't get any forced air.

I replaced the resitor pack (it turns out that my American spec car had the European spec resistor--befuddling the dealership--and had to have it shipped from Sweden...), inspected and lubed the blower motor (which runs when hotwired to the battery), pulled the ACC unit out of the dash and inspected all the solder joints, checked the fuses, etc. It doesn't seem like it could be the interior temp sensors since the unit won't work on manual override either.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I managed to sweat my way through the end of a Texas summer and am now looking at the prospect of a cold (but short) winter with only the heated seat and a scarf. ;- )

Cheers,
Kevin
