First winter with my 850 850 1995

I've also found that TRACS is not too useful, but it can't do any harm. Good driving skills and judgement in snow are more effective.

The Winter mode can be useful, especially for drivers who don't have a concept of what it means to *not* spin the tires on startup. :) And even for skilled drivers, it makes it easier.

I have found that the 850 does fairly well in light snow, but I echo the caution about the back-end tending to swing out. I did a 180 spin once in a modest turn, with no warning!
