I'm sure many of us have experienced the failure of the volvo horn switches, located inside the steering wheel (which eventually break off and lose contact with the center section). I was thinking, though, that a repair would most likely result in the problem being fixed for a while, but perhaps returning in the future. With my car, It arrived with a new, far crappier horn installed (Dayglo orange wires running from the dashboard to the door, then through the bodywork and into the hood and attached to, of all things, a motorcycle horn).
But just today, I thought about something. Would it be possible to reloate the horn trigger to more finger-friendly buttons outside the wheel? I do not have the car around to check it out myself, but I was thinking about it, and cannot imagine the switch to be too hard to solder a pair of short wires to, and screw in two additional switches. Would this work?
If anyone has considered or done this before, I'd be interested in hearing their comments.
Cheers,
Andrew
