Fellas:
I've been Volvositting an S70 for my sis-in-law for about 6 months now. I drive it every once in a while just so it's driven and not sit in the garage. I've never paid attention to the temp during the summer. It was not overheating. Now that it's getting colder out there, I've noticed that the engine is not getting as hot as I think it should (or maybe I'm just so used to my 83 240 with its toasty heater). The scenario yesterday when I drove it: outside temp 37, driven for 5 miles at 35 mph and it got up to temp 5 graduations not counting the very bottom, got on the Interstate, outside temp still 37, cruised at 65-70 mph, temp got all the way down to 2 graduations. Is it safe to assume that the thermostat failed in the open position or is this normal for S70s? Thanks for any input.
