just an update to let you know how it is going. I ordered those links from the place you suggested. Got them the next day!!
I replaced them last night and I've got good news and somewhat bad news and more good news. So the "knocking" sound is now gone. I didn't realize how long I've had it, but now its gone I realize this has been a problem ever since I bought the car with 30K miles! Anyway, the "rattle" I spoke of still persists. this is a different issue. I didn't want to give up so I put it back up on the jackstands and starting beating the hell out of different areas on the car (points of the frame, mounts, tires, etc. - anything that wouldn't dent or bend basically) using a rubber mallet. Finally hit the driver's front tire and heard something. Took it apart and realized what the problem was. When I replaced my brakes and rotors a little while back, I had broken that metal spring tensioner clip on the caliper. I had no idea it could end up making that kind of noise without that clip. Anyway, dealership a half hour away has a couple in stock, so I plan on picking one up tonight for $10. Hopefully this will make my car quiet!
Thanks for the help. I would never have figured out those stabilizer links being a problem. Like you said, I couldn't tell how lose they were till I got them off the car and compared them to new ones.
