Might be a break in the fuelpump feed line inside the fueltank or just a fuelpump going bad. There's a short accordian type hose between the fuelpump and the fuel feed line inside the fueltank and it might be cracked. If the fuelpump is going bad usually the fuse there in the fusebox will be very warm to the touch. If you take the gas cap off and just turn the ignition key to the ON position (engine not running...) and listen in the gastank to see if the fuelpump sounds noisy. You can pickup a Actron 9135 OBDII code reader over on Ebay for about $100 and be able to read the codes that set off the Check Engine Light. Unless you want to do that I would suggest finding a good reputable independent repair shop that handles Volvos and let them checkout the fuelpump and maybe change the fuel-filter too. Good luck......
