O2 Codes, adaptives self-clearing? 850 1996

I have a 1996 850 Turbo and I replaced the O2 sensors. Will the codes clear themselves (that is, will the check engine light go out) and adaptives modify themselves to pass emissions tests (Texas), or must I use a Volvo scan tool?

I have had the check engine light come and go on its own before.
