The throttle body wasn't gunked up at all. It had just a little 'glaze' in it.

Forgive me, but what is an AMM?

I've got 55k and the throttle body has never been cleaned.

Something I noticed last night... the air conditioner and a hard turn REALLY put a lot of strain on the engine as the RPMs approach idle. What controls the idle? Whatever is supposed to maintain idle at the moment of gear down is apparently failing.
