cd changer cable 850 1993

I also have a '93 850 with the original cd changer. It does not get power from the cable going to the radio head. The power is from the wiring harness in the trunk. Check behind the cd changer very close to where the cable is. On mine the wiring is at the back lower left corner when facing the trunk. 2 wires, one green with a red stripe goes to the wiring harness and a black is grounded on metal. One or both might have been damaged while packing luggage or something.
