Codes and Modes: Complex diagnostics 850

I am reading the AllData manual and each mode is carried out by doing either certain gear shifting (example: DTM 2, 4) and/or sending signal via the On Board Diagnostic II unit to the TCM (Example: DTM 5, Fluid temperature, Trans RPM and throttle position). It looks a bit complex.

I believe '93 does come with OBD II, atleast mine does.
