Shift knob removal S70

And your 99 S70 has the 5 speed manual tranny? I don't see anything resembling that on mine. When I went to the parts dept at my local Volvo dealer the exploded drawing showed that the shift shaft was threaded as if it screwed on like most cars in the world, except I can't remove it and I don't want to twist so hard that I would break something else in there...
