How do I remove the Automatic Gear Shifter?? 850 1995

Before you pull very hard upward, first is to disconnect the leather boot just beneath the shifter. There is a ring behind the boot right next to the shifter. Just twists the ring anti-clockwise to disconnect the leather boot from the shifter, then seat on the armrest and pull hard.
