Door Check Problems V70-XC70

I have just had the same problem, now requiring welding for the broken door "shell."

What's going on here wiht the Volvo I've so often praised to the skies?

Not to mention now my transmision has gone out at only 102,000. (My 240 wagon is still fine at 226,000).
