Flame Trap 850 1995

I just went to check on my Flame trap. I found that the vacuum hose it usually resides in has corroded to the point where it was just hanging off.

I have noticed a lot more smoke lately and a high oil consumption rate (the smoke is a bit blusih when first starting). Can this be related to my flametrap / vacuum hose problem?
