ongoing O2 sensor problems 850 1994

The problem started with a check engine light and code 435 at least once a week. It eventually started to set a catalytic converter fault so I broke down and changed the front one with a universal sensor that the auto parts store recommended. Gas mileage stayed at 17 mpg and I got a CE light twice a day. Returned that one & got the correct Bosch. Gas mileage immediately went back to 22 mpg(city) but now I get a recurring 212 & 153 fault (w/CE light). Will changing the rear one fix this or should I save my $150 and look for a broken hose, etc.? I see this topic here quite frequently and I was wondering if someone had found a permanent cure for this. By the way, engine code is B5234T. Thanks for any help you might have.
