Look into replacing the rear window track on the door. Volvo had some trouble with this part and the new design is a little more robust. This is a best guess given the info.

The repair takes a little time, door skin needs to come off, and window needs to come out. Haynes manual will help. Special tool required will be a pop rivet gun. The new door rail comes with a rivet to refasten to the door.
