This is a used module from a 99 and cost $250, not $600. It makes sense that the SRS code was set with the broken module removed. It sounds like no module, new or used, would reset the SRS code but the system was able to communicate with the used CCU for all functions.
It is also not fair that the only way to find a problem is an $80 VADIS test or that the part fails after only 82K miles and cost $600. I will pay for the VADIS download because I caused it when the CCU was removed and then drove the car.
