Computer Diognostic Systems S80 2000

I'm interested in learning more about the onboard computer systems on my 2000 S80. Does anyone know of any good sites that explain the systems? Maybe one that says what exactly is connected to the diagnostic systems, what it can find. How it works. Is it possible to tap into the system to view saved error codes and the like without a scanner or VADIS, like on the warning screen? What about changing settings, such as seat temperature and celsius/fahrenheit How closely is the onboard diagnostic system on the 2000 S80 related to ISO OBD-2? How far off the standard has Volvo strayed with the S80? Without having access to VADIS, is it possible to look at what errors the system has recorded, reset reminders, change settings, and so-on? If you buy a scan tool, can you do pretty much everything a VADIS system can?
