I agree with pkkirby. All cars have problems, but volvo is supposedly dedicated to safety. When an obvious safety-related defect is exposed, and I am sure it would not be too difficult to find out how many defective ABS modules have been replaced on the 98 s70's, loyal volvo owners have a right to expect an immediate response. Most of the defective modules were probably replaced under warranty, so we are not hearing complaints from those lucky people.
If volvo would replace the defective modules for 1000 people, the cost to volvo would be less than $500,000. If only 100 people, people like pkkirby and myself, decide to not buy another volvo for our next car, the cost to volvo would be at least $4,000,000. Do the math, volvo. I have been a loyal volvo owner for over 20 years, but they really lost me on the ABS issue.
