Re-set the Radio? V70-XC70 1998

Ever reset the radio after the battery has been disconnected?

Did it right the first time. Simply punched in the 4 numbers and it worked.

Second time, swear I did it right--no response. Tried again--same thing. Third time and it says OFF.

My Manual says I must leave the Key in #1 position now for 2 hours!

Does this make sense? Any alternative?
