Easing up on gas when automatic transmission changes gears 850

I have been told that the computer adjusts the throttle with an automatic transmission before. But, I get a real kick if I just leave it at full throttle. It is a more comfortable ride if I ease off the gas a little when it's about to change gears. Does this hurt the tranny? And if so, why?
