Defective shutoff valve and tranny fluid question S80

The check engine popped up last month and I got the car diagnosed as having a defective pcv valve (1999 S80 T6). My dealer proceeded to change it and the check engine light reappeared 100 miles later. The dealer now says I have a defective shut off valve (recirculates unburnt gases?) The part costs about 200$ canadian and it takes 2 hours to install. I want to do the work myself but I dont have any info on where the part resides and of any precautions I should take.

I checked my tranny fluid yesterday (with the engine running) and found it to be orangy-red with little bubbles on the dipstick. I dont know when it was flushed out the last time. Should I change it? Should I let the dealer do it?

Thanks for the help
