Who is right???? 850

What this tells you is to use your thinking cap!

Thoughts:

Dealers - think about that one for a minute. OK? Change the ATF at 30-40,000 mile intervals MAX if you use petroleum based ATF. Too late if there "is a problem"...sounds like they like selling trannies.

Jim-Bob is onto something. 1000psi? Not sure it's that high. Flushing is good. Having Aamco or some other non-trustable shop do it is another thing.

The good Sir's method has been used with some sucess but the drawback really is you may just be diluting bad fluid, and I, for one, just don't have that kind of time.

Master Mech III - Speaks truth. Yes I am a highly biased Amsoil dealer, but for a fluid you don't change every 3K miles, it just makes total sense to use synthetic ATF. Runs cooler, more effeciently, more HP to the ground, less wear on parts, longer tranny life, longer fluid life 100,000 mile changes with ease.

Mech IV - Come on over and see my neighbor's rig - burns petroleum ATF for lunch, the stuff cooks and goes raunchy in a matter of months even though he has an external cooler. I give him a case of Amsoil Synthetic ATF at cost (hey he's my neighbor!). Two summers later, trips to Arizona, Colorado, etc...same fluid looks perfect. No issues.
