Outside temperature sensor S40-V40

S40'2000 US: Outside temperature indicator shows only "---"
Had some problems time to time with displaying correct temperature during hot days, now shows nothing.
Where this sensor located? Can I check it?
Car still under warranty, but have no time go to the dealer 30 min away.
