I've heard that getting the cone air filter isn't the best solution for our volvos. The cone isn't boxed so it will suck in all the hot air under the hood by the engine. The stock airbox on the 850s are actually pretty good. Best thing to do would be to just buy the K&N drop-in air filter. Should only be $50 at most auto parts stores. After I installed it on my 850 Turbo, my throttle response increased greatly, as did top end. I'm sure it would be effective on a naturally aspired engine, as well. Just my $.03
