could be a number of things...if the struts and/or springs are worn, then it may just be that there isn't enough support up and the suspension is bottoming out. if the spring seats are worn/cracked..u'll hear something more like a knock or hard metallic knock. sway bar end links up front are known to make noise also. check ur control arm bushings too.

just replaced my front upper spring seats..and the car feels more supple up front for some reason. i was surprised.
