Hey Bob
I have a 94 850 turbo FWD with IPD upgrades & a 98 R AWD wagon with IPD upgrades. The wagon is faster, due to better traction and handling. The 850 is only pushing about 265 hp, and traction is a problem, not only in the straight but more so in corners, seriuos understeer makes you back off throttle. Anyway check this web page out

Look at the notes about the upgrades. The only drawback with the AWD is the torque is lowered until higher RPM to preserve the auto tranny converter, but you can replace the converter to higher stall rpm. As for the AWD fuss of reliability, common sense prevails, keep same size tires/wheels at all corners, don't "spin" wheels on loose surfaces, it's the same system on your Talon. My Talon went 96K miles with no drivetrain problems. My mechanic (a Sweedish specialist) has no negative comments on Volvo AWD, except that the driver makes the diffrence.
So.. what did you do to the brakes on your Talon? I ate rotors on mine constantly.
Have fun
Spence
