Good points 850 1996

My local Indy seems to be trying to squeeze out more business lately.
Prices are even higher then dealer ($300 to evac, recharge and "diagnose"
AC problems vs. $190 at the dealer). Recently had car in and they
recommended replace water pump, flush coolant, replace upper motor
mount (with the plastic bushing), oil cap gasket, etc. In fact, the typed
out list looked like a list of the most common probelems we see on 850s/70 series (I wonder if alldata.com, which they use, can print a list of common items to watch). Nothing wrong with watching these items but replacing the just cause it is on the list of known problems is questionable.

The sad part is they are squeezing their regular customers during lean
times (times seem to be lean for this shop in past 8 months). The only
advantage is they can get you in the next day (dealers still seem busy).
They have lost my business and now I'm being more cautious with the
small shops and I'm not ruling out dealers just becuase they are a dealer.
