The only difficulty I've had with the outside handle latch is early on requiring lube (wht lith) on the internal cam. You'll need to remove the inner panel (which has happened twice so far w/o provocation) to get to the mechanism. Start at the middle handle bezel them move out with putty knife type removal device. You may want to procure the fix kit from IPD which reinforces the push to connect latches. Re. your latch, most likely the cable mechanism has become disengaged and may be able to be reattached (epoxy). You will want to lube the wiper mechanism while you have the panel removed.
