Thanks for taking the time to answer my plea and I am sure you are correct.
However I have to restate my problem - there remains no way for me to enter the code.
On power up the radio display freezes at "CODE <>". No amount or combination of button pressing allows me to change this.
I can tell you that I know I'm not 'locked-out', eg from previously entered wrong codes, because the radio was working fine until the battery was disconnected for maintenance work; this problem has only surfaced subsequently.
