Yes there always seems to be a bigger fish in the sea. If you drive a wagon, you are susceptible to a larger SUV, if you drive a large SUV you are susceptible to a even larger SUV, if you drive that you are susceptible to a transport truck. Bottom line, is you cannot guarantee safety and someone is always driving a bigger vehicle. But as mentioned, you can reduce the risk of injury with some common sense and minimal exposure. After being severely rear ended on the freeway some 12 years ago, I make conscious efforts to minimize any left hand turns from busy or fast moving roadways where you can be a sitting duck to a driver not paying attention. I do this even if it means driving a longer way around 'clockwise' if I deem the risk high. I don't know maybe me and my wife are paranoid since I experienced the rear bumper of my 88 cutlass in the rear seat.
What we really need is a few years of high gas prices to clean the streets of the large SUVs and pickup trucks. Or better yet, a surtax for all those who don't own Swedish cars ;).
