If the LED is not coming on and staying on, then the problem is the alarm system not going into program mode, your FOBs are probably OK. I recall fussing with my car years ago when a second FOB was purchased. The method you described is correct. Try starting the car and running it a bit (about a minute), supposedly letting the ECM settle down and re-set. Try the re-programming again, if the LED doesn't come on and stay on, there is no point in continuing, just keept trying untill the LED lights up. The five on/off sequence is correct. You are leaving it on the fifth time I hope...!
