Transmission 1994

Sounds like the shifter wasn't completely in park because if it was, I believe that your car has a shift lock soleniod that'd prevent that from happening. My older 740 has no shift lock at all so if I'm not carefull enough to be sure it's fully in park, the same thing could occur.
