Starter Motor - Average Longevity ?? 850 1996

Nathan,

My '96 850T is my fourth Volvo, preceded by a '72 142, '80 242 and an '88 745T. All were bought used with moderate mileage and had the original starters. The only starter problem I've had was with the '96, the week after I bought it. The problem was a sticking solenoid (cold weather only), corrected by disassembling, cleaning and relubing. I don't expect to ever have to touch it again.
