Hello All,
I have a 2016 XC90 T8 Inscription Plug-In Hybrid. At a 125,000 miles my independent Volvo mechanic recommended the oil trap be replaced because there was a hole in the diaphragm. I ordered a Volvo Oil Trap (Part # 32140004). If I recall correctly, my mechanic said the hole in the diaphragm can increase internal engine pressure and blow out seals. The oil trap is a plastic canister that sits on top of the engine and has an opening where you pour the oil in, and also has one or more hose attachments. My mechanic recommended changing the oil trap every 75,000 miles. I saw comments on FCP Euro where I purchased the oil trap recommending the oil trap be changed every 50,0000 miles. It is not a cheap part, but then again replacing blown engine seals is not cheap either.
My question is: How often should you replace the oil trap? There is no mention of replacing it in the owner's manual, so I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thank You,
Hugh
